Paddle and Pedal

It's time to paddle!!  Eddyline Fathom LV.  Wish it was orange or turquoise, but it will be much more fun than doing a treadmill at some stinky ole gym.

Time to pedal too.  Much better than the gym too!  It's a Suede baby blue. 

Time to play.  I'll stick my head in to say hello from time to time and let yall know how my creative projects are coming. This is the real love bug!

Yep, we're in smoky times here in Shasta County.  It's the worst air in recorded history, but we're a tough adventuresome lot. There are fires here every summer. Got the emergency evacuation list ready, the insurance policy is in the safe deposit box with a CD of photos of our belongings, and we've clipped the wild shrubs beyond the fence. My blessings are in my kids and family and not my possessions.  Do you think I can save the kayak and bike anyway!?!

Repetition

Most of us use too many small items in our room decor and I'm no exception. The eye scatters across the room and doesn't know where to rest.  It just looks better to have a few larger scale items in a room. Good ole standbys are large wall clocks, large mirrors and of course, quilts draped on a wall. A clever trick is to do a grouping of a smaller similar item like photos, plates, or pictures in repetition.  It has the same effect of using a larger scale item. The frames are Aaron Brothers on super clearance and the bird prints are from a calendar I purchased at the wonderfully famous Rogers Gardens in Orange County. About a hundred bucks for a super look!! Love that!

Yummy Rolls

Tula Pink Flutterby – Moda.   I've been itchin to stitch this little batch of yummy goods.  I'll have to keep my room painting down to an hour or so a day, or I won't get to my great idea.

Color Scheming

Color schemes from a bike and apron seems like a perfectly rational way to pick a decorating plan to me!

Time For A Redo

I think it's time to do another room redo and the family room is the target.  It's funny where I get ideas sometimes.  I was too lazy to put the bike away and rolled it into the house.  "Gosh, that color sure looks good with the new couch." Then the new apron pattern had me sold. I've selected a restful robins egg blue for the walls with dark accents for contrast. I use a lot of color and pattern in my work, so peaceful and calm looks good right now. I'm using a Martha Stewart color.  Her selections are fabulous – very subtle designer shades that are actually livable. The birds are from a calendar with clearance priced frames in a cluster grouping of nine.  I haven't decided what kind of quilt or pillows yet.  It's a work in progress. I'll try to get a better shot of the wall color in the daylight. It's nice to be back after the flu bug hit hard.  

p.s.  Have you noticed lanterns are everywhere?  I'm determined to find a steal on a very tall dark brown metal lantern for the hearth.  It's more fun when you get creative and determined to do it all on a shoestring. After all, I blew it all on the couches.
