Jelly Roll Seasons Bag

I love it when my new patterns are almost done! I tried to make extra cheery projects this time around, because we all need it right now.

There really are only four seasons, but I couldn't stop at four.  I guess my little bird is the "happy season". I fashioned the bag a tad smaller than the original Jelly Roll Bag, with patches that change out with little velcro strips sewn to the corners. The Tulips are my favorite pocket, so far! But, that yo-yo basket is fighting for first place, too.

I had some fun with a redo of a favorite block, French Rose.  I'll include both in a new pattern designed to work with layer cake, 10" precut squares.

Granny Patch

I won't reinvent the wheel here by doing a tutorial.  There are so many resources out there for this fun technique.  It is much different than paper piecing where you machine stitch fabrics onto a paper foundation pattern. I really wanted a handiwork project for down time.  This doesn't require a lot of thinking!  I did try machine basting a few dozen pieces last week, and that does speed up the process. But as I said, I want something that I can pick up and continue whenever I'm watching a movie or American Idol, so speed isn't the point. I've made hundreds of quilts over the years for my design business, so this is thrilling to do something just for fun.
